Vendakka Thoran Recipe

Vendakka Thoran Ingredients:

Vendakka Thoran Recipe

  • Ladies finger(Vendakka) – 15 nos
  • Onion(large) – 1 no
  • (finely chopped)
  • Green chilly(slit) – 2 nos
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Pepper powder – A pinch
  • Salt – As reqd

How to make Vendakka Thoran:

  • Cut ladies finger into two pieces and then slit in the middle.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds.
  • When they begin to crackle, add onion, green chillies and ladies finger with salt.
  • Mix well and keep it covered.
  • Do not add water at all. Stir after every 3 minutes.
  • When the ladies finger shrinks, and the onions turn brown, add pepper powder.

Beans Thoran Recipe

  • Beans – 1/2 kg
  • Onions(small) – 3 nos
  • Coconut(grated) – 1 cup
  • Green chillies – 3 nos
  • Garlic pods – 2 nos
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – A pinch
  • Curry leaves – A few
  • Salt – As reqd

How to make Beans Thoran:

  • Cut beans into very small pieces.
  • Grind together coconut, turmeric, onion and green chillies.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard seeds and when they splutter, add beans, garlic and mix well.
  • Add the ground coconut masala.
  • Do not mix, but the masala should cover the beans.
  • Add curry leaves and salt.
  • Keep the pan covered and cook on a low flame for 5 minutes.
  • Stir well.
