Bread Halwa Recipe

  • Bread 1/2 pack
  • Butter 1/2 cube
  • Ghee 6 to 7 spoons
  • Sugar 1 cup or according to your taste
  • Milk 1 cup

How to make Bread Halwa

  1. Cut bread into pieces and in a big pan put 1 spoon of ghee and put the bread pieces and fry till light brown.
  2. Pour 1 cup of milk to it and mix well and add sugar 1 cup or according to your taste and keep mixing and keep the flame in medium always.
  3. Put 1/2 cube butter and mix well. Cook till it becomes like halwa. This will be good for nearly 2 weeks but you will have to keep it in fridge. Whenever you have it, make it a little hot and eat. It will be really good.
  4. Bread Halwa Recipe is ready to serve.

Banana Puri Recipe

  • Banana Puri
    Banana Puri

    8 oz Flour or maida

  • 4 oz Gram flour (besan)
  • 3 ripe Banana’s
  • 3/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 4 Green chilies
  • 3/4 tsp Chilies powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Ghee or oil
  • Salt to taste

How to make Banana Puri

  • Sieve the 2 models of flour.
  • Mix the red chili powder, turmeric cumin seeds and salt to the flour.
  • Mash the bananas well while using sugar on a grinding-stone.
  • Add 1 tbsp of ghee towards the flour and knead.
  • Add the banana puree and still knead until soft.
  • Divide into small balsa and roll out in to the form of a puri.
  • Heat the ghee and deep fry puris on sides until crisp and brown, or fry after a little ghee over a tava on both sides until brown.
  • Banana Puri is ready to serve.

Til Puris Ingredients

  • 1 lb Flour (maida)
  • 2 tbsp Sesame or til seeds
  • 2 tsp Celery seeds
  • 2 tsp Caraway seeds
  • 2 tsp Coarsely ground peppercorns
  • 2 tsp Onion (kalonji) seeds
  • Butter or Ghee
  • 2 tsp Salt or to taste
  • 2 tsp Sugar or to taste

How to make Til Puris

  • Sieve the actual flour and blend all the ingredients into it.
  • Add enough warm water to knead to stiff dough.
  • Rollout straight into tin rounded puris.
  • Heat ghee in a very kerai and deep fry on both sides of bread until crisp and golden brownish.
  • Til puris is ready to serve.

Yield: 6 servings

Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Chaat Dahi Batata Puri Recipe

    1/2 cup garbanzo beans

  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon rock salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 1 large potato – peeled, boiled and mashed
  • 32 thin wheat crackers
  • 1/4 cup green chutney
  • 1/4 cup sweet and sour chutney
  • 1/2 cup red onion, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro

Hoe to make Chaat Dahi Batata Puri

  • Boil the garbanzo beans in water for about 30 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork; drain well.
  • Beat the yogurt together with the following: fresh grated ginger, chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, rock salt or black salt, black pepper and salt.
  • Season the mashed potato with salt.
  • Break each puri gently with a fork to create a tiny opening on the top. Arrange the puris in 4 plates, 8 in each plate. Or, if using wheat crackers arrange them on a platter or plates. Place the potatoes on top of each cracker. Place about 1 tablespoon of potato in each puri or on each cracker. Place a few garbanzo beans on top of the potato. Spoon the spiced yogurt on top. Spoon green chutney and sweet and sour chutney on top of it. Garnish with the chopped onion, cilantro, and sev on top. Serving tip: I like to set up a number of small bowls with each of the above condiments, so that each person can add whatever they want to, according to their taste and preferences.

Halwa Puri Cholay Recipe

  • Semolina / sooji/ bombai rava – 1 cup
  • Raisins – 1tsp
  • Cardamom Pods – 4
  • Chironji – 1 tsp
  • Cashewnuts – 6-8
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Ghee ( clarified butter) – ¼ cup
  • Food colour – Yellow / orange optional

How to make Halwa Puri Cholay:

  • Heat clarified butter or in a pot until well hot. Add cardamom dry fruits and nuts and fry. Add semolina and roast the semolina on very low heat until it turns light brown and gives a nice aroma.
  • Boil the water in a separate bowl, add the fried semolina and keep mixing, so it doesn’t form lumps.
  • Cover and keep on low heat and let it simmer until the water is absorbed (approximately 5 to 10 minutes.) Remove from heat and serve.

To make puri:

  • 1 cup Semolina (Rava / Suji)
  • 3 tblsp Fine Wheat Flour (Maida)
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • Oil to deep fry

To make pani:

  • 1/2 cup Tamarind (Imli) Pulp
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tblsp roasted Cumin Seed (Jeera) Powder
  • 2 tblsp un-roasted Cumin Seed (Jeera)
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 3 Green Chilly (Hari Mirch)
  • 2 tblsp Mint Leaves (Pudina Leaves) Chutney
  • 1 tblsp Black Salt (kala namak )
  • 2 tblsp Jaggary (Gur)

How to make pani puri:

To make pani:

  • Measure all ingredients.
  • Adjust spices and tangyness to taste.
  • Strain through a wire strainer to remove any rough bits.

To make puri:

  • Mix sooji, maida, baking soda, salt and enough water to knead a soft dough.
  • Stand covered with wet cloth for 15-20 minutes.
  • Make small sized balls.
  • With the help of some dry maida or sooji, roll into thin rounds.
  • Heat oil in a pan and deep fry puris till very light brown and crisp.
  • Drain in a paper towel for a while to dry out the oil.
  • Store in an airtight container when cool.

Dahi Sev Batata Puri Recipe

Dahi Sev Batata Puri Ingredients:

  • 2 cups very fine semolina (soji or rava)
  • salt to taste
  • water
  • oil to deep fry
  • puri cutter

How to make Dahi Sev Batata Puri:

  • Mix soji, salt and enough water to knead a soft dough. Stand covered with wet cloth for 15-20 minutes.
  • Take a fist sized lump and make a ball. With the help of some dry maida or soji, roll into big thin rounds. Cut small puris from it with the cutter. Approx. 1 1/2″ diameter. You may use a sharp edged lid of a bottle, if the size is alright.
  • Remove the frills formed and mix into remaining dough. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry puris till very light brown and crisp. Keep the puris covered with a moist muslin cloth if there is delay in frying.
  • Drain and rest in a colander or over kitchen paper for awhile for oil to dry out. Store in an airtight container when cool.
  • If in a hurry, just cut the big puris into small squares and use the same. No dough is then put back in frill form.

Dal Puri Recipe

  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Black Gram Dal (urad dal)
  • 2 Red Chilies
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Cardamoms
  • 2 Cloves
  • 1/2″ piece Cinnamon
  • 1/5 cup Water
  • Oil to fry
  • Salt To taste

How to make Dal Puri:

  • Rub 1 tsp oil into the wheat flour
  • Add 1/2 tsp salt to the wheat flour
  • Make soft dough using small amounts of water
  • Set aside the dough for 25 minutes, covered with a wet cloth
  • Soak black gram dal for atleast one hour and grind to make a paste
  • Add very little water if required to make a paste
  • Grind together red chilies, cumin seeds, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon and keep aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a fry pan
  • Add the dal paste and the mixed masalas, stirring constantly till the dal is fried and the water is absorbed leaving it dry
  • Knead and divide the dough into 10 small balls
  • Make a cup with each ball and fill with the prepared dal mixture
  • Seal by extending the dough over the filling
  • Flatten and roll it as a roti, approx. 3″ in diameter
  • Deep fry in hot oil till golden brown
  • Drain and serve hot

Rava Payasam Recipe

  • 1 litre Milk
  • 100 gms Wheat Rava
  • 200 gms Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cashew Nut
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Raisins

How to make Rava Payasam:

  • Heat little ghee in a frying pan.
  • Fry cashew nuts and raisins in ghee.
  • Fry wheat rava in the remaining ghee until the raw flavor gets lost.
  • Boil 2 measures of water in a thick vessel.
  • Add fried wheat rava and cook. Add sugar.
  • Allow the mixture to boil for about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the flame.
  • Boil and add the milk to payasam.
  • Mix cashewnuts, raisins and cardamom powder.
  • Rava Payasam is ready to serve.
