  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Beat butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add combined flour, baking soda, salt and spices; mix well. Stir in oats and raisins.
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake 8-9 minutes for chewy; 10-11 minutes for crunchy cookies.
  • Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet. Remove to wire rack.
  • Store tightly covered.

    1 3/4 cups flour

  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 16 T. butter (2 sticks)
  • Grated zest of one orange
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 1/2 cups oatmeal rolled oats (Quaker Quick or Old Fashioned, do not
    use instant)
  • 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (can sub walnuts)
  • 1/2 cup raisins

How to make Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Orange Pecan Cookies

  • Preheat oven to 375. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper
  • Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • Combine granulated sugar with grated orange zest, set aside.
  • Heat ten tablespoons butter in small saucepan, place remaining 6 tablespoons butter in large mixing bowl. When butter is nicely browned (this takes a few minutes) and has a nutty aroma, pour over the remaining butter and mix until all butter is completely melted.
  • Add the granulated sugar and orange, brown sugar, vanilla and salt to the butter and whisk until combined. Add the egg and egg yolk. Whisk for thirty seconds and let stand for three minutes, repeat this process twice more until mixture is thick and shiny, this will enhance the flavor and texture of the cookies.
  • Using a whisk or plastic spatula, combine the wet and dry ingredients. Mix until fully incorporated. Add in the oatmeal, chocolate chips, raisins and nuts and mix well.
  • Spoon dough into balls onto baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-11 minutes, until the edges just turn brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before transferring the cookies to a rack to cool completely.

  • 1-1/2 cup shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 teaspoons water
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 2 cups chopped raisins
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Additional granulated sugar or colored sugar

How to make Grandma’s Oatmeal Cookies

  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in water. Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the oats, raisins and walnuts.
  • On a surface sprinkled with additional sugar or colored sugar, roll out dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut out with desired cookie cutters. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until set. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 12 dozen.

    1 1/2 cups rolled oats

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil

How to make Oatmeal Crackers

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  • Place the rolled oats into a blender or the work bowl of a food processor, and pulse several times to grind them into coarse flour. Stir the oat flour together with whole wheat flour, salt, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour in the water and olive oil, and mix to form a soft dough. Place the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, and roll out 1/8-inch thick. Using a knife, partially slice through the dough in desired shapes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until just barely brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Watch carefully, as they burn easily. Allow to cool completely on baking sheet before breaking along score lines into individual crackers.

How to make Oatmeal Waffles:

In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt; set aside. In small mixing bowl, stir together eggs, milk, butter and brown sugar. Add to flour mixture; stir until blended. Pour batter on to grids of preheated, lightly greased waffle iron (amount will vary with size of waffle iron). Close lid quickly; do not open during baking. Use fork to remove baked waffle. Top with fresh fruit and yogurt.
