    1 lb. carrots (make sure they are sweet, I’ve used preshred too) shopping list

  • 3 Tbsp. fresh lime juice (Molly uses lemon) shopping list
  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil shopping list
  • ¼ tsp. salt, plus more to taste shopping list
  • 1/8 tsp. pressed or crushed garlic shopping list

How to make French Carrot Salad

  • Cut off the ends of the carrots and peel them.
  • Run them through a food processor with a shredding or Julienne
    blade. I’m sure you could use a mandolin or at the worst a box grater. I don’t have either.
  • Put the shredded carrots in a bowl and add the lime juice, tossing and mixing them together well.
  • Add the other ingredients and toss together coating the carrots with the oil, salt and garlic.
  • I always add other stuff to it. Sometimes a little bit of shredded onion or chopped olive.
  • French Carrot Salad is ready to serve.

    1 pound cranberries

  • 8 ounces miniature marshmallows
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1 banana, sliced
  • 1 cup unsweetened whipped cream

How to make French Cranberry Salad:

  • In a food processor or blender, coarsely grind the cranberries.
  • Place ground cranberries in a large bowl and stir in the marshmallows,
    sugar and pineapple.
  • Let mixture stand overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Just before serving, stir in the sliced banana and whipped cream.
  • French Cranberry Salad is ready to serve.

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, optional
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 10 to 12 slices white bread
  • butter
  • maple syrup or other syrup

How to make French Toast:

  • Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.
  • Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
  • Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side. Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
  • Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup.
  • Recipe for French toast serves 4.

How to make Ultimate French Omelette:

  • Combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl and mix very well with a fork or a whisk.
  • Set a plate by the stove. Heat a small (about 6 inches) seasoned omelet pan or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. When the pan is warm, add the butter (it should sizzle gently). Swirl the pan to distribute the butter as it melts. When the butter stops sizzling and the foam subsides add the eggs. Pause to let the eggs heat slightly and then stir vigorously, with a heatproof spatula, making sure you include the sides of the egg mixture occasionally so the omelet cooks evenly. Once the eggs are just set, bang the pan gently on the burner to release the omelet from the pan. Check to see that it is not sticking to the sides or bottom of the pan, if so release the omelet with a heat proof spatula. Hold the pan at a 45-degree angle to the stove and carefully fold the omelet like a business letter. Cook just until the desired degree of doneness lifting the pan or reducing the heat to prevent browning. (A classic omelet doesn’t have any browning on it.) Transfer to a warm plate and serve.

  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 1 tablespoon cornmeal
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water

How to make French Bread:

  • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, yeast and salt. Stir in 2 cups warm water, and beat until well blended using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment. Using a wooden spoon, stir in as much of the remaining flour as you can.
  • On a lightly floured surface, knead in enough flour to make a stiff dough that is smooth and elastic. Knead for about 8 to 10 minutes total. Shape into a ball. Place dough in a greased bowl, and turn once. Cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled.
  • Punch dough down, and divide in half. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Cover, and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll each half into large rectangle. Roll up, starting from a long side. Moisten edge with water and seal. Taper ends.
  • Grease a large baking sheet. Sprinkle with cornmeal. Place loaves, seam side down, on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly beat the egg white with 1 tablespoon of water, and brush on. Cover with a damp cloth. Let rise until nearly doubled, 35 to 40 minutes.
  • With a very sharp knife, make 3 or 4 diagonal cuts about 1/4 inch deep across top of each loaf. Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 20 minutes. Brush again with egg white mixture. Bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes, or until bread tests done. If necessary, cover loosely with foil to prevent over browning. Remove from baking sheet, and cool on a wire rack.

  • 1 large baking potato

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder

How to make Baked French Fries:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Cut potato into wedges. Mix olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, chili powder and onion powder together. Coat potatoes with oil/spice mixture and place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake for 45 minutes in preheated oven.

How to make Cinnamon Raisin French Toast:

  • Whisk first 6 ingredients in 13x9x2-inch glass baking dish. Add bread to egg mixture and let soak 20 minutes, pressing down occasionally.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, add bread to skillet. Cook until golden brown, turning once and adding more butter as needed, about 3 minutes. Transfer to baking sheet. Bake until bread puffs up and is firm in middle, about 30 minutes. Serve warm with maple syrup, if desired.

How to make French Tomato

  • French tomatoes are so called because in the traditional recipe Gervais cream cheese is used in place of the low fat cottage cheese.
