  • Three large red or yellow spur chillies

Directions

  • Cut around the stem of the chilli. Make another cut to open the chilli from stem to tip. Carefully remove the core and seeds.
  • Trim the stem end of the skin to form two lobes and the tip end to form a point, thus producing a heart shape as in the picture.
  • With the tip of the knife, make a hole in the spathe and insert the core and seeds to create the anthurium spike.

How to Carved Chilli Carving

Material

Directions
Type 1

  • Select a fresh, medium sized chilli.
  • With the carving knife, make cuts from the stem end towards the tip to form three pointed petals of the desired length.
  • Carefully pull the tip of the chilli away, leaving the core and seeds as the pistil of the flower.

Type 2

  • Select fresh, medium sized chillies.
  • With the carving knife, make cuts from the stem end towards the tip all around the chilli to produce many pointed petals of the desired length.
  • Carefully pull the tip of the chilli away, leaving the core and seeds.
  • The chilli flower may be soaked in very cold water to make the petals spread.
