    1 pound bacon

  • 1 (16 ounce) package little smokie sausages
  • 1 cup brown sugar, or to taste

How to make Brown Sugar Smokies

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cut bacon into thirds and wrap each strip around a little sausage. Place the wrapped sausages on wooden skewers, several to a skewer. Arrange the skewers on a baking sheet and sprinkle them liberally with brown sugar.
  • Bake until bacon is crisp and the brown sugar melted.

  • 3/4 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 3 ounces dry-roasted peanuts
  • 1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
  • 3 ounces frozen snow peas, thawed and pat dry
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried sweetened cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

How to make Brown rice salad with peanuts:

  • Bring water to boil over high heat in small saucepan. Stir in rice; return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 25 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Rinse rice with cold water; drain well.
  • Meanwhile, place large skillet over medium-high heat. Add peanuts; cook and stir 3 to 4 minutes or until fragrant and beginning to brown. Transfer to medium bowl. Stir in water chestnuts, snow peas, onion, bell pepper and raisins. Stir in rice.
  • Combine vinegar, honey, soy sauce and pepper flakes in small bowl.
  • Add vinegar mixture to rice mixture; toss to coat.

How to make Black Beans and Brown Rice:

Add brown rice to boiling water, cook until done, set aside. In extra-large saucepan, combine red, yellow and green peppers, and onion and saute over medium heat until ready, about 3-5 minutes. Next, add cooked black beans and pureed tomatoes to mixture. Stir gently but thoroughly. Season with garlic powder and carob chips, a pinch of rosemary plus a chunk of Caribbean Jerk seasoning (its like chutney!). Cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, then simmer until ready to serve. Serves 12. Per serving, 677 calories, 5g fat (7% of calories), 0mg cholesterol, 345mg sodium, 14.9g dietary fiber.   • 2 Cups poha
  • 4 Green chillies
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Few curry leaves
  • Oil as required

How to make Brown Poha

  • Soak poha in water.
  • Wash and drain all the water.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add mustard, cumin, chilli and curry leaves.
  • Fry onions until light brown.
  • Add tomatoes, tumeric and salt. Fry it properly.
  • Mix poha with it.
  • Put it on low heat for 4 minutes.

    1+1/3 cup flour

  • 1+½ cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup butter
  • 3 fl oz boiling water
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 oz chocolate chips
  • 5 oz chopped walnuts or pecan nuts

Frosting:

  • 1/3cup butter
  • 8 oz sweet dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoon strong coffee

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 350 deg F (Gas mark 4 or 180 deg C).
  • Line a 13 x 9 in (33 x 23 cm) cake tin with grease proof or other non-stick paper and grease the tin.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan.
  • In a bowl combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and vanilla extract.
  • Add eggs, melted butter and hot water and mix until smooth.
  • Add chocolate chips and nuts.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, approximately 20-30 minutes.
  • Cool the cake.
  • Glace with the chocolate frosting.
  • For the frosting, mix butter, chopped chocolate, syrup and coffee and heat in a double boiler until melted.
  • Stir until smooth and spread over the cake.
