Guava Blossoms Carving

Material:

  • One Sali guava

Equipments

  • Sharp-pointed knife
  • Melon scoop

Directions

  • Wash the guava and cut each in half lengthwise.
  • Form the center of the flower by making a circular cut and removing the flesh from around the outside. Take a cut through the flesh in the center to make a curved petal and remove flesh from the cut. Make the next petal in the same way; it should overlap the first slightly. Inner petals should be centered between outer ones.
  • Carve expanded petals with curved borders around the center. Remove flesh from beneath them to make them stand out. Make four or five circles of petals in this fashion.
  • The second flower is made in the same way and is positioned so that about a third of it is covered by the first.
  • Remove flesh from around the flowers to give them definition. Carve two leaves on either side of the flowers and remove flesh from around them. Cut grooves in the remaining surface.
